My name is Julie Perry, and I’m running for the Virginia House of Delegates to represent the amazing 86th District, which I have been lucky enough to call home for the past three and a half years.
My father served in the United States Air Force, so growing up we moved around quite a bit—I learned the value of finding a place you could call home, and I found that here in Herndon with my husband, Mike. Education is a lifelong passion of mine—I get to live in my dream job every day, teaching 9th grade world history and 11th grade U.S. History at Centreville High School in Fairfax County.
As a teacher, I have had to watch our students struggle under the crushing pressure of being forced to stay at home and transition to online-based learning. I have seen the social and emotional toll it has taken on them, their families, and on my colleagues. Moreover, I watched their calls for help go unanswered at so many levels. The buck stops here.
I am running to bring a fresh perspective to government. I’m not a Richmond insider—I’m a working teacher. My focus is on the issues that matter closest to home:
- Re-opening our Schools
- Improving our Education System
- Public Safety
- Restoring Faith in our Elections
- Fiscal Accountability
- Preserving Virginian’s Right to Work
My pledge to the voters of the 86th District is simple: I will work harder and travel farther than anyone to understand the issues that matter the most to you, and to earn the responsibility of representing you in the House of Delegates.
